FWMTA Piano Solo Contest

This is a festival in which students perform for a judge and receive a rating. Students receving a SUPERIOR+ will perform in an honors recital. Students in grades 5-12 will be eligible to receive a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place medal or an Honorable Mention.

 

This event is intended for only the more dedicated students. You are required to prepare multiple pieces from different style periods. This is one of the more demanding festivals in the metroplex.

 

DATES:
CONTEST: Saturday, April 12th, 2008.
HONORS RECITAL: Saturday, April 19th, 2008. Afternoon.

 

LOCATION: Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth.
Cowden Hall

 

FEES:

  • Kindergarten through Grade 4 - $15.00
  • Grades 5 through 12 - $20.00

 

ELIGIBILITY: Any piano student who is enrolled public, parochial or private elementary, junior or senior High School in Texas may enter this contest.

 

REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENTS

  • K – 4th 2 contrasting pieces 6 minutes
  • 5th – 6th 3 pieces from 2 different periods 10 minutes
  • 7th-8th 3 pieces from 3 different periods 12 minutes
  • 9th-10th 3 pieces from 3 different periods 15 minutes
  • 11th –12th 3 pieces from 3 different periods 20 minutes

 

All students who receive a SUPERIOR+ will perform one piece on an Honors Recital to be held on April 19th, at Southwestern Seminary Cowden Hall Recital Hall. Times will be announced following the contest. All awards will be presented at these recitals.
