Dr. Robert D. Carney enjoys a multi-faceted career that spans both academia and the entertainment industry. As performer and educator, he has appeared across the U.S. and Europe, while his students have garnered top prizes in regional and international competitions. As an academic, Carney has presented at major international conferences in Europe, Canada, and the U.S., for organizations such as the College Music Society, Music Teachers National Association, European Association for Music in Schools, and the World Piano Conference. After 12 years at Southwest Baptist University, where he rose to the rank of tenured full professor and served as Chair of the Department of Music, Carney transitioned from that role in 2022 to work in the management and creative side of the entertainment industry. Dr. Carney also continues performing and teaching privately out of his home in Springfield.
