Piano Ensembles for Student Affiliates

NOTE: To participate in piano ensembles, you have to be a student affiliate member.

ALSO: You MUST pass the theory test in order to participate in this event.

FEES: $15 per student

REGISTRATION: You must register and pay for this by February 22nd, 2008

RECORDING: Your audition recording is due by April 1st, 2008

DESCRIPTION: How much fun to play with other kids! Also, it is a GREAT learning experience! With this event, you can have the opportunity to play with a group of kids close to your age with two at each piano (and possibly many pianos at a time!).

There are two parts to this: local level, state level. You must participate in both in order to do this activity.

LOCAL LEVEL

In order to participate, you must first send in a recorded audition of the piece to be played.

REHEARSALS AND REHEARSALS:

In May, you must attend four (maybe three - you can be excused from one) rehearsals on Saturday mornings from 8:00-10:00 a.m.

RECITAL:

There is a "dress rehearsal" and recital in June, the week before the state convention.

STATE LEVEL

June 13th-15th at the Hyatt Regency in Houston:

You will need to attend rehearsals and the convention recital. This is when you get to really have fun since the music is familiar after having played it many times before.
